Maybe it's because I grew up in a very Catholic, Mexican family but there is something about being able to talk about sex freely and candidly with other women that to me is very exciting.
That said, I was thrilled when my gym, Flirty Girl Fitness, held a discussion with sex educator and therapist Dr. Laura Berman on Sunday. The New York Times Best Selling author and Oprah Show regular led a fun, frank lecture and answered questions about intimacy and sexual wellbeing.
Among the inquires Berman addressed was the validity of the G-spot.
"I don't know where my spleen is, but does that mean it doesn't exist?" asked Berman, who explained the G-Spot is typically located about three inches up the front anterior vaginal wall between the vagina opening and the urethra.
She also settled worries by stating that there is "no evidence of long term use of the pill effecting fertility."
The information that stood out to me the most, though, was that the average man reaches climax within 7 minutes while it takes the average woman 20 minutes (only 30 percent of which reach climax through sex). Also, the fact that Berman stated men will live longer if they marry and women won't unless they're in a good marriage.
I guess my natural instinct as a women was to think that this information was not fair. Marriage will allow men to live longer while simultaneously being a woman's potential silent killer? AND men typically climax first? Where's the justice?
When asked how women should climax with their partners she answered that if the added stimulation from sex toys was needed they should include it. Also, women just "have to let go." She said it doesn't necessarily have to be an uphill battle for women. If a woman could just let go and allow herself to be vulnerable, feel confident and repel all the bad thoughts of insecurity climaxing would come easier.
What do you think? Should women just "let go" to reach climax? Thoughts on men climaxing first on average and marriage extending their life expectancy?
