“The secret is texture,” my friend Anabel tells me. “I add jicama, red bell peppers, cucumbers, nuts and cranberries, and it no longer tastes like a salad”. Sound familiar? I live with a meat lover so for me at first, texture included adding some bacon all the time in order to get him to even take a bite. Funny because no matter how much I talked about all of the benefits of salads, including how necessary they are for the absorption of other nutrients and digestion of for example the meat eaten throughout the week, it just never worked. All of a sudden I add a little bacon and it’s a whole new dish.

In spite of my healthy eating habits, I must admit I have a new addition to my all time favorites in the junk food category. It's a product with a fresh crisp taste, made from cane
sugar in comparison to its American version, comes in a glass bottle, and even has its own fan page on Facebook with over 15,000 fans and counting. A product I had forgotten about and hadn't had since I was six years old when living in Mexico City, and now find in certain locations where I eat and shop. The bottled Coke, or as some will call it, the Mexican Coca-Cola.

The days go by, Monday a new week and you’re sure to begin a new routine, Tuesday, you miss, but it’s just the second day of the week, Wednesday, still got four days to get three days in the gym. A new week begins and still not one drop of sweat. Lately with the dark, cold, gloomy nights this is all I can think about as I get up to make a stop at the gym. Finally I think about my own words and what I would tell my clients, “there is no excuse to not make it to the gym or work out from home”.
