I have my doubts

Does it go against the grain to want equals rights for women, but want the privileges of being one, too? Is that hypocritical?

I've always tried to be good about splitting the tab and being completely equal, but am I being a fool?
I don't think you should feel guilty about being treated to a night out the town once in a while. But, I'm not sure if that's just my own rationalization because I shamelessly want to be treated out.
Is it about finding a balance? Treating one another out in the town once in a while? Or is that not how it works anymore?

I'm spending my Saturday night researching which bar and/or event hosts a good "singles night." Yep, I'm that cool.

What is taking the high road?

Everyone always talks about taking the high road, but I'm starting to think that saying has been misinterpreted over the years. Especially when it comes to relationships.
There's a situation in my life right now that I can't seem to move on from. Someone recently let me down and I'm not sure if it's worth talking to them about it. I don't know whether to just tell them my honest opinion of them or let our relationship status change into "weirdsies" and avoid them.
If I tell them what's on my mind I run the risk of losing them as a friend. If I keep things the way they are I'll have to learn to curb my feelings of resentment. Either way our friendship looks bleak.

I asked my friend for advice and she told me, simply, that people need to be accountable for their actions. Why do we put so much pressure on ourselves to do the right thing when people continually act like jerks. People act out and get away with it only because of people, like me, that let them get away with it. And for what? To avoid stirring the pot? Avoid argument and drama? I'm getting to the point, especially while writing about it, that if this friendship is going to end I might as well let it end with a bang. I'll feel better if I express myself, at least. Also, if they do get mad only because I expressed my opinion, is that the kind of friend you want to have, really?

What do you think? Should I let sleeping dogs lie?

Sex and lies

Tagged in: life , humor , friday , comment

There's a cold war going on between the liars and the non-liars. It's too early to tell who's winning.

I'd like to say I'm on the non-liar team mostly because it's hard for me to lie. There's too much work involved and it's always better, I feel, to just be honest and upfront with people. Why draw things out with lies?
For these reasons, I always wonder how people can cheat. I'm not about to go all holier than thou on anyone, but I don't understand how people can keep up such a lie (because, I assume, cheating requires lots of lying).  It's got to be exhausting.
When I heard the allegations that Sandra Bullock's husband, Jesse James, was cheating on her I was pretty thrown off. Mostly because she was cheated on with someone who looks almost nothing like her apart from being brunette.

Michelle ‘Bombshell’ McGee claimed that she and Jesse James carried on an affair while he was married to Sandra Bullock. It was also said that this affair went on while Sandra Bullock is filming the movie “The Blindside."

I'm not about to judge any marriage or relationship or even people who cheat. But, I do wonder if people can bounce back when they're cheated on like this. Once you find out your husband or wife or significant other is on the lying team is there even hope in you left to think they might be recruited back to the other team?

My NYC trip

I took a break from relationships (or the lack there of) and spent the last couple of days in New York City. We were almost mugged 15 minutes after we landed in the city and spent our nights in a hotel most likely run by Norman Bates. Sigh. So many memories.
